Manage BOMs
Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager offers three levels of BOM management. By default, you can create, compare, and manage BOM Checkpoints. You can also access additional BOM options with Simplified BOM scan or Advanced BOM versions management, set in your preferences.

You may not be able to change your BOM management preference options if your administrator has already set and protected them.

BOM Checkpoint management.
• Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager disables BOM versions and only provides BOM Checkpoint management. You can only access Checkpoint items and Checkpoint commands.
• When you scan a BOM, the new scan overwrites the current BOM.
To select BOM Checkpoint management, clear the Enable BOM Versions check box in your Preferences dialog box.
Simplified BOM scan management.
• You automatically create a new BOM scan each time you scan a BOM.
• You can compare the current scan against any previous scan.
To select Simplified BOM scan management click the Enable BOM Versions check box in your Preferences dialog box.
Advanced BOM version management.
• You automatically create a new BOM version each time you scan a BOM.
• You can manually create BOM versions with Save as New Version.
• You can view BOM versions with Open By Version.
• You can compare any BOM version.
To select Advanced BOM version management, click the Enable BOM Versions and Advanced BOM Versions check boxes in your Preferences dialog box.
