Assign parts to Masterdata
Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager creates a BOM by scanning a drawing to derive which Masterdata to link together. The Masterdata to link together can come from four sources:
1. You save a Creo Elements/Direct Drafting part on its own, which automatically creates an associated Masterdata.
2. You manually assign Masterdata to a component within Creo Elements/Direct Drafting. This information is saved with the drawing.
3. The database has a Masterdata element with the same name as the component in your drawing.
4. If no Masterdata is found for the drawing component, one is created automatically using the same name.
If the name of the component in a drawing is not the same as the name in the database, you can use the Assign Parts command in Creo Elements/Direct Drafting to manually assign Masterdata from the database to the component on your drawing.
*
Assign parts before you store the drawing in the database.
To assign parts,
1. In Creo Elements/Direct Drafting, click File > Drawing Manager > Assign Parts.
2. Select the part to which you want to assign Masterdata. Alternatively, right-click the drawing in the Parts Browser, and in the shortcut menu, click Drawing Manager > Assign Parts. The Assign Masterdata dialog box opens.
3. In the Assign Masterdata dialog box, select your Masterdata: Click Assign and from the drop-down list, select
Browse to link to Masterdata already existing in the database.
In the dialog box, search for the Masterdata to add. Use the drop-down menu to select where you want to search. Click Recent List, Favorites, Search, or use the Quick Search.
Select the Masterdata item, and click OK.
New Masterdata to create new Masterdata.
In the New Masterdata dialog box, type a name for the new Masterdata, as well as any other information you want to include.
Click OK.
Create new Masterdata by name and Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager automatically creates new Masterdata using the same name as your part.
Map to existing Masterdata by name if Masterdata with the same name as your part already exists in the database. Creo Elements/Direct Drawing Manager automatically links your part to this Masterdata.
4. Once you've assigned Masterdata,
Click Apply to apply your changes.
Click Unassign to unassign your Masterdata, or
Click Edit Masterdata to edit your recently assigned Masterdata.
5. Click OK.
