Measure the normal direction of a face as an axis
To measure the normal direction of a face as an axis
1. Click Analysis and then, in the Measure group, click the arrow next to Direction.
2. Click Axis 3D. The Measure Output dialog box opens.
3. Right-click the viewport and select Point and Dir.
4. Specify an axis point.
5. You now have two choices for measuring the axis of a face (normal direction):
To specify the axes represented by the normal direction out of the part, right-click and select Face Normal.
To specify the axes represented by the normal direction into the part, right-click and select -Face Normal.
6. Use the 3D CoPilot to select the direction. The viewer displays the axis point (relative to the global coordinate system origin) and direction in the two sets of X, Y, and Z fields.
7. You can click further measure options, or click to complete the operation.
