Measure the 3D direction of a cylinder, cone, or torus
To measure the 3D direction of a cylinder, cone, or torus
You can measure the 3D direction given by the axis of symmetry of a cylinder, cone, or torus. You can measure both partial and full cylinders, cones, and tori.
1. Click Analysis and then, in the Measure group, click the arrow next to Direction.
2. Click Direction 3D. The Measure Output dialog box opens with X, Y, and Z fields.
3. Hover over the cylindrical, conical, or toroidal face. The viewer displays graphical feedback showing the direction of the axis of symmetry.
4. You now have two choices:
If the direction of the axis is correct, click on the face.
If you want the opposite direction, press TAB.
The viewer displays the direction in the X, Y, and Z fields.
5. You can click further measure options, or click to complete the operation.
