Lightweight models
When you work on a very large assembly you can decrease load time and improve Creo Elements/Direct 3D Access performance by only loading the full model files for models you plan to modify. Otherwise, load a lightweight model.
A lightweight model is a graphical representation of a 3D model without the geometry. The lightweight model uses less memory and loads faster than the full model.
Working with lightweight models
Lightweight models are saved automatically when you save a new or modified model with Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager.
Add a lightweight model to an existing model from the Structure Browser. Right-click the model and choose Model Manager > Add > Lightweight.
Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager snapshots save the current load type for each model.
Benefits when working with very large assemblies
Faster load and reduced memory usage than the full 3D model.
Easier to select models for reload visually than to identify them from a partial load structure.
Configuring lightweight models
Determine the default 3D load type
Load lightweight models as full when no lightweight model is found
Load types
A load type determines the kind of data to load into Creo Elements/Direct 3D Access. Creo Elements/Direct Model Manager provides three load types:
Full - Loads the full model and the metadata. You can see and modify the model. Full uses the most memory.
Choose To Full if you want to modify the model or are using design simplifications.
Partial - Loads only the metadata. The model will be listed in the Structure Browser, but you can not see the model in the viewport. Partial uses the least amount of memory.
Choose To Partial if you do not need to see the model in the viewport.
Lightweight - Loads only the lightweight model and metadata. Design simplifications do not have lightweight models.
Choose To Lightweight if you are working on other models in the assembly, but want to see this model in the viewport.
Reload a model to choose a different load type.
You can configure a default load type in your user preference.
