PTC‑hosted Codebeamer AI Credit Usage
An AI credit is a unit of consumption that represents the cost of performing an AI-powered action. The number of credits consumed depends on various factors, including the complexity of the task, the type of AI model used, the amount of data processed, among others. Users spend AI credits to access and execute different Codebeamer AI functionalities within a product.
Credits consumed by an AI action
The credits consumption for the Codebeamer AI assistants is determined as follows:
Requirement Assistant
Approximately 5 to 7 credits per action to evaluate a requirement.
Approximately 7 credits per action to rewrite a requirement.
AI Test Case Assistant—Approximately 4 to 5 AI credits per generated test case, depending on the complexity.
Search Assistant—Semantic search uses only a small number of AI credits per query. For example, one AI credit can support several thousand search queries.
AI Indexing—Approximately 50–54 credits per 9-10 million indexed words.
AI credits are consumed for both indexing and search operations, with indexing accounting for a significantly larger share of credit consumption. For more information about indexing cost and storage see, AI Indexing Cost and Storage Overview.

Your access to AI capabilities will continue even after the allocated credits are consumed. The PTC Compliance team monitors usage and works with customers to determine the requirement for additional credit packs or to pause access until credits are renewed.
