New Topic Tab
The New Topic tab enables you to create a new DITA topic and insert or modify a topic reference to that topic into a DITA map. Note that you are just creating a reference to the new topic in the Resource Manager. You must open the new topic in Arbortext Editor to add content.
If you select the > menu choice and the Resource Manager is not already open, the Resource Manager opens with the New Topic tab active. This tab is available in the Resource Manager when you are editing a map or a specialization of a map.
The New Topic tab contains the following options:
• Document Type — Determines the type of DITA topic or map to create.
Select the type of topic or map you want to create from the list. The document types that are displayed in the list are determined by a setting in the document type configuration file (.dcf) for the DITA map or specialized map that you are editing.
• Sample — Determines whether the sample document for the selected document type is used to create the new topic.
By default, the template document is used to create a new document. Select this option if you want the sample document to be used instead.
• Insert — Determines the type of element to insert into the document.
Use this drop-down list to select the type of reference element to insert into your document. This is usually a topic reference.
• Title — Determines the title for the new document.
You must enter a title for the document.
• Folder — Determines the folder in which the new document is created.
The default folder is the current document directory. You can enter the path to a different directory in this field. If you enter a path to a folder that does not exist, the option turns red and the tooltip shows the current path entered in the option followed by
(does not exist). You can also select the
Browse for Folder button
to invoke the
Browse for Folder dialog box. This dialog box enables you to browse for an existing folder or create a new folder.
• File Name — Determines the file name for the new document.
The Resource Manager creates a default file name for the document based on the document's title. You can enter a different file name.
• ID — Determines the ID for the new document.
The Resource Manager creates a default ID for the document based on the document's file name. If enabled in the document type configuration file (.dcf), you can enter a different ID.
| The ID option is hidden by default. To display the option, set the ditahideids advanced preference to off. |
• Keyref — Enables you to optionally enter a key name to insert in the keyref attribute for the reference.
Use this option when you want to add a key reference to the reference you are inserting. The setting of the ditakeyrefui advanced preference determines whether this option is available in the Resource Manager.
• Insert button — Inserts a reference to the selected document element into the document you are editing at the indicated location.
If the current context in your document is not a valid insertion point, this button is disabled.
This button is named Modify when the Resource Manager is invoked to modify attribute values.
