Resource Manager Overview
The Resource Manager is a dialog box that enables you to manage the content of your DITA documents. The Resource Manager contains the following tabs:
• Content Reference — Enables you to insert content references into DITA topics and maps.
Note that the version of this tab for DITA maps appears in a separate, undocked Resource Manager dialog box.
• Image — Enables you to insert images into DITA topics.
• Link/Xref — Enables you to insert links or cross references into DITA topics.
• Topic — Enables you to insert topic references into DITA maps.
• New Topic — Enables you to create a new DITA topic and insert a topic reference to the new topic into a DITA map.
• Key Definition — Enables you to insert key definitions into a DITA map.
• Inclusion — Enables you to insert XML inclusions into DITA maps and topics.
Note that this tab appears by default as a separate, undocked Resource Manager dialog box. You open the Inclusion tab by choosing > .
The Resource Manager displays the appropriate tabs based on the type of document you are editing. The Resource Manager appears by default when you are editing a DITA map, docked to the left side of the Arbortext Editor window. However, you can dock the Resource Manager to either side of the Arbortext Editor window or use it as an undocked dialog. You can dock and undock the Resource Manager by dragging it or by double-clicking on its title bar. Arbortext Editor saves the state of the Resource Manager as part of your window configuration, so you can change the default location and size as desired. You can also customize the Resource Manager to control things such as the tabs that are available in the docked version of the dialog box.
The Resource Manager maintains a history of the locations visited in your current session that is available from the Look in option. The history is displayed in the browser’s History node. You can also add a list of locations you use most frequently to the Favorite Locations node in the Look in option. You can add, remove, and rearrange favorite location in the list. You can also export and import lists of favorites.
The Resource Manager enables you to synchronize the current location where you are browsing across the available tabs. You can turn off tab synchronization through the Menu button and shortcut menu. On tabs that have a file browser, you can filter the list of files that are displayed in the browser.
You open the
Resource Manager through either the > menu choice or the
Resource Manager toolbar button (
). You close the
Resource Manager by selecting the
x in the upper, right corner of the dialog box. In some cases, the
Resource Manager opens when you select an editing operation to perform. For example, if you are editing a DITA document and select > , the
Resource Manager opens with the
Image tab active.
An undocked version of the
Resource Manager, usually opened through the
Browse button
, is available in the following places:
• Modify Attributes dialog box
• Quick Attribute dialog box
• Document Map
• Column view.
This version of the Resource Manager has fewer options and can only be used to modify the attributes of existing references.
