Apply Profile Dialog Box
Use the Apply Profile dialog box to apply available profiles to an element. This process sets conditions on elements, associating them with their intended audiences. The dialog has the following controls:
Search — Based on string input, provides the ability to search for a profile name or value in the Profile tree structure. The search result displays the value that matches the current search string as well as the objects that were previously selected.
Clear — Clears the search box.
Profile list — Based on the type selected in the Mode area, lists the individual or group profiles available to be applied to the current element or link target. Select profiles to apply by clicking on their check boxes.

Profile Shading
You can configure colored shading to differentiate between profile groups, attributes, and values. The Apply Profiles dialog box displays any profile shading that is configured for the document type instance, if it was invoked in an edit view that has profile shading enabled. See Using Shading for Profiled Elements for further information on configuring shading for profile values.
The following general display guidelines apply:
The shading shown for the main profile alias is based on the default color. The default color will also be applied to any profile value that does not have its own shading configured.
The shading shown for a profile group (folder) will also be shown for any value in the folder that does not have its own shading configured.
A collision color can be specified for a profile. Elements that have two profile values of different colors set will display the collision color.
Elements that have two profile values of the same color set do not display the collision color.
