Insert Link Target Dialog Box
Use this dialog box to create or modify link targets in the current document. When you select a link target within the current document, or your cursor is to the right of a target, the title of this dialog box changes to Change Link Target.

All document types distributed with Arbortext Editor support linking, except for Free-form XML.

This dialog box contains the following options:
• Link Target Name: — Type the name of the new link target in this field. Names must be unique within a document and must be valid XML and SGML names.
• Other Link Targets: — Lists the existing link targets in the current document.
• Target Text: — Displays the first few characters of text in or adjacent to the target selected in the Other Link Targets list.
• Go To — With a target selected in the Other Link Targets list, Go To scrolls the document in the Arbortext Editor window to the link target's location. The cursor will remain at the original location.
• Go Back — After using the Go To button to scroll to another location in the document, Go Back scrolls the document to its original location.
• Insert — If allowed by this document type's declared linking markup, places a link target at the current cursor location. The target will have a linking attribute value set to the name in the Link Target Name field.
◦ If no markup is highlighted in the document, a tag is inserted at the current cursor location.
◦ If the cursor is immediately to the right of the start tag of a non-empty element (visible gentext is considered content) that has an ID-type attribute, that element's ID-type attribute is set to the name in the Link Target Name field
◦ If a single tag set is exclusively highlighted, that element's ID-type attribute is set to the name in the Link Target Name field.
◦ If multiple tag sets are highlighted, a tag is inserted at the beginning of the highlighted markup. If the selected tags contain nested items (such as an itemized list with its list items) the outermost element's linking attribute is set to the name in the Link Target Name field.
When a link target within the current document is selected, or the cursor is to the right of a target tag, Insert changes to Change. Change updates the existing link target's linking attribute to the name in the Link Target Name field. Any links to the link target are also updated.
If the .dcf file does not specify a target element, Insert only sets ID attributes.
• Cancel — Closes the dialog box without inserting or changing a link target.
• Help — Displays help for this dialog box.
