When publishing a document to a PDF file, you can use Arbortext Styler to configure your document’s TOC to output bookmarks in PDF output.

Adobe Acrobat includes a table of contents that displays PDF bookmarks. This table of contents has an expandable, hierarchical contents list in which each entry is linked to its corresponding location in the document. The hierarchy of the PDF bookmarks in the Adobe Acrobat table of contents replicates the hierarchy of the bookmarks' corresponding elements in the document.

To display the bookmarks in Adobe Acrobat, click Acrobat's Show/hide navigation pane toolbar button, and then click the Bookmarks tab.
