Clipboard Operations with Rows and Columns
Clipboard operations performed on tables function much like text, however they do not work with discontinuous selections.
*
Column operations are not applicable to custom tables.
To cut rows or columns:
1. Select the cells, rows or columns you want to remove.
2. Choose Edit > Cut.
If your selection was a cell or cells which did not make up a full row or column, the Cut operation will clear the cells, but not remove them from the table structure.
To copy table elements:
1. Select the cells, rows or columns you want to copy.
2. Choose Edit > Copy.
To paste table elements:
1. Place the cursor in the cell that represents the upper-left corner of where you want the cells to be pasted. If your selection consists of full rows or full columns, place your cursor anywhere in the row or column you want the elements inserted.
2. Paste the elements:
To replace existing cells with those on the clipboard, choose Edit > Paste from the menu. The cells will be inserted starting in the cell containing the cursor and extending to the right and down. If your selection consisted of entire rows or columns, they will be inserted above/left of the row or column containing the cursor.
To insert full rows or columns (not cells) above or to the left of the row or column containing the cursor, click the right mouse button to access the shortcut menu and choose Paste Insert Before.
To insert full rows or columns (not cells) below or to the right of the row or column containing the cursor, click the right mouse button to access the shortcut menu and choose Paste Insert After.
To edit rows and columns using drag and drop
1. Select the rows or columns you want to move or copy.
2. To move the selected rows or columns, click the left mouse button inside the selection and drag towards the desired destination. To copy the selected rows or columns, CTRL+ click the inside the selection and drag towards the desired destination.
As you drag, Arbortext Editor will highlight the borders between the rows or columns, indicating where you can drop the selection. You can drag to another table if the destination table has the same number of columns in a row (for row selections) or rows in a column (for column selections). You can also drag the cells outside a table, but you must select a destination where a new table would be permitted.
3. When you locate your desired destination, release the mouse button.
