Symbols Tab
The Symbols tab has the following controls:
Font — Lists the fonts available on your workstation. When a font is selected, all of the symbols available in that font are displayed in the Character list.
Subset — Lists the Unicode subsets for which the selected font contains symbols. If a selected font does not contain Unicode subsets, this list is not displayed. When a subset is selected, the first symbol in that subset is highlighted in the Character list. When different symbols are selected in the Character list, the Subset list shows the subset containing the selected symbol.
Character list — List the symbols (glyphs) available in the selected font. When a symbol is selected in the list, the symbol's displayed Character code and description are displayed. Double-clicking on a symbol inserts the symbol's character code at the document's current cursor location.
Recently Used Symbols — Lists the symbols defined as character entities in the current XML document, the symbols defined as character entities in XML documents previously opened in the current session, and the most recently inserted symbols (only those with corresponding character entities) from the current session. Double-clicking on a symbol inserts the symbol's character code at the document's current cursor location.
Character — The hexadecimal character code and description of the selected symbol.
Insert — Inserts the selected symbol at the document's current cursor location. When the Symbols tab is selected, the Insert button inserts the character code of the selected symbol in the document (and optionally a _font PI specifying the font family of the symbol). When the Character Entities tab is selected, the Insert button inserts the character entity of the selected symbol in the document.
Close — Closes the dialog box.
