Modifying Table Properties
Use the Table tab of the Table Properties dialog to set the basic characteristics of your table. Follow these steps to use the dialog box:
1. Place the cursor in the table or select a cell, or a rectangular combination of cells, columns, or rows.
2. Choose Table > Table Properties.
3. Clear the Use Default check box and provide a value in the Display Width field to set a fixed display width for your table.
4. Select the Use Default check box to set your table display to the default width.
This is set to 100% by default; the default can be modified using the set tablewidth set option.
*
In OASIS Exchange tables, changes to display width are saved as processing instructions, which are typically not compatible with other XML editors. Use the set tableuiextensions command to prevent format settings from being saved as processing instructions.
5. Set a Border Width and unit of measure.
For OASIS Exchange and Arbortext tables, this setting applies to all of the borders in your table, including the frame around the table. HTML table border width only applies to the frame and pixels (px) are the only supported unit of measure.
6. Provide a value and unit of measure for Cell Margins.
OASIS Exchange and Arbortext tables allow you to set different margins for the left, right, top and bottom of the table cells. HTML table cell margins are defined as Space between cells, and Padding from the middle of the cell margin to the beginning of the cell content. Pixels are the only supported unit of measure for HTML tables.
7. Select the Modify Borders button to open the Modify Borders dialog box and change the format of the table borders.
