File Menu Introduction
The File menu contains commands that allow you to open a file, insert files, save files, print files, and exit the application.
New — Opens the New Document dialog box.
Open — Opens the Open dialog box.
Arbortext Editor can open a file located by a URL. Files opened from a WebDAV server or from a repository can be edited. Otherwise, a file specified using a URL is opened as read-only.
Open Reference — Opens the DITA topic or map document referenced in a DITA document.
This choice is only available when you are editing a DITA document. When a topic reference, xref or link, content reference, and so forth is selected in a DITA document, the text of this choice is suffixed with filename where filename is the file name of the referenced document. When a key reference or content key reference is selected, the text of this choice changes to Open Keyref: keyname where keyname is the name of the key contained in the keyref or conkeyref attribute.
Close — Closes a document without exiting the application.
Import — Offers the following options:
Import a Text File — Inserts highlighted text from a selected document.
Import a Document — Imports Word, FrameMaker, RTF, and other documents to XML. (Requires Arbortext Import/Export).
Open Import Project — Opens an existing set of Import mapTemplates for editing using the Arbortext Import Workbench. (Requires Arbortext Import/Export).
This choice is not available in the compact installation of Arbortext Editor.
New Import Project — Lets you create a new set of Import mapTemplates. (Requires Arbortext Import/Export).
This choice is not available in the compact installation of Arbortext Editor.

The Open Import Project and New Import Project menu choices are not available until you perform a first-time initialization of Arbortext Import by clicking on Update on the Import Workbench Configuration dialog box.
Import Workbench Configuration — Shows characteristics of the Arbortext Import configuration and lets you specify the location of the Arbortext Import Repository. (Requires Arbortext Import/Export).
This choice is not available in the compact installation of Arbortext Editor.
Save — Saves the document.
Save As — Opens the Save As dialog box.
If the document being saved has a document-scope macro (.mcf) file, a copy of the .mcf file will be saved with the new document's base name.
Save All — Saves all open documents.
Revert to Saved — Restores the document to the version most recently saved.
Print Preview — Opens the Preview dialog box.
Print — Opens the Print dialog box.
Publish — The contents of this submenu will vary depending on the publishing options available. The following options may be available:
For Web — Publishes a document for deployment on a web site.
For HTML Help — Publishes a document as a compiled HTML Help (.chm) file.
For EPUB — Publishes a document as a EPUB (.epub) file. You need to have Calibre installed to enable this action and view its output.
HTML File — Publishes a document as a single HTML file.
PDF File — Publishes a document as a PDF file.
RTF File — Publishes a document in Rich Text Format (RTF). This option is only visible if Arbortext Import/Export is available.
Using Rule — Opens the Publish Using Rule dialog box
Using XSL — Publishes a document using an XSL stylesheet.
Page Setup — Opens the Page Setup Editor View dialog box.
Print Editor View — Opens the Print Edit View dialog box.
