Print and PDF Configuration Files for PTC ALD Publishing
Configuration files are provided in the PTC Arbortext environment to support print and PDF publishing when the effective print engine for the environment is PTC Arbortext Layout Developer (PTC ALD). The configuration files contain the instructions necessary for the PTC ALD engine to format and print the document to a particular output type.
Shipped configuration files can be used or customized to support publishing actions — see Arbortext-path\app:
• standard.appcf: supports publishing of a PDF file (default file for Publish to PDF File actions)
• postscript.appcf: supports publishing of a PostScript file
These files are in XML format and can be edited with Arbortext Editor.
You can use custom PTC ALD configuration files. The following criteria must be met:
1. Publishing from Arbortext Editor or Arbortext Styler — a custom file must be located in an APTCUSTOM\app directory for PTC ALD to find it. Otherwise you can browse for a file from the Publish to PDF File dialog.
2. Publishing via Arbortext Publishing Engine — a custom file must be located on the PE server, in any of these locations
◦ Arbortext-path\app
◦ any APTCUSTOM\app directory
◦ an application or custom doctype\nnn directory, where nnn is the short doctype name of the doctype of the document being published.
3. Custom .appcf files must contain a single Print and a single Format element, although these not require child elements to be valid.
