Testing Graphics Support
You should test graphics support in your document type after enabling it in the document type's .dcf file.
To test file name graphics support:
1. Open Arbortext Architect.
2. Choose File > Open.
3. Locate the directory in which the document type you want to test is saved, and click Select.
4. Choose Edit > Test Document and Stylesheet, select the document in which you want to test graphics support, and click Open.
5. In the document, click your cursor in a valid location in which to insert a graphic.
6. Choose Insert > Graphic.
If set promptgraphictags is set to on (the default), you are prompted for a choice of tags if you're inserting a graphic at a location in which more than one graphic element is valid and more than one graphic tag has been configured in the .dcf file.
If only one graphic tag has been configured in the .dcf file, or if set promptgraphictags is set to off, the Modify Attributes dialog box opens for the primary graphic tag.
7. In the Modify Attributes dialog box:
Enter the file name of the graphics file.
Enter the name of the graphics processor.
Click OK.
When you enter values for the graphics attributes in the Modify Attributes dialog box, changes to these attributes are reflected in the screen display and formatting of the graphic.
To test notation graphics support:
1. Open Arbortext Architect.
2. Choose File > Open.
3. Locate the directory in which the document type you want to test is saved, and click Select.
4. Choose Edit > Test Document and Stylesheet, select the document in which you want to test graphics support, and click Open.
5. Choose Entities > Graphic and supply values for the following items in the Graphic Entities dialog box:
Name: — Name of the graphic entity you are declaring.
Specify one of the following:
System ID: — File name of the graphic on the system.
Public ID: — Public ID for graphic.
Notation — Graphic file format notation of the graphic file, such as TIF.
*
The notation you supply must match the graphic file format to be read. It also must be a notation that the document type recognizes.
6. Choose Entities > Notation.
7. In the Notation dialog box, enter the graphic format name.
8. Click Declare.
9. In the document, click your cursor in a valid location in which to insert a graphic.
If the named entity has been declared, and if it properly identifies the path of an existing graphics file, the image displays in the document when you exit the Modify Attributes dialog box. Otherwise, a box representing the graphic appears.
If you specify graphics attributes such as magnification, resolution, and vertical adjustment amount in the .dcf file, any changes made to these attributes in the Modify Attributes dialog box are reflected in the screen display and formatting of the graphic.
