Creating Element and Attribute Descriptions
You can provide descriptions for the elements and attributes in your document type using the Alias Map Editor in Arbortext Architect. Element descriptions will display along the bottom of the Insert Markup dialog box if you select an element that has a description. Attribute descriptions will display along the bottom of the Modify Attributes dialog box.
Be aware that element and attribute descriptions are assigned to the element and attribute and their aliases. So if you apply an alias map to a document, the description you created for the element or attribute will display at the bottom of the Insert Markup dialog box or Modify Attributes dialog box.
To add descriptions for elements and attributes:
1. Open Arbortext Architect.
2. Choose File > Open.
3. From the Select A Directory dialog box, choose the directory where the desired document typeis located, and click Select.
4. Choose Edit > Aliases to open the Alias Map Editor.
5. Create an alias map.
6. If you created an alias map from an empty template or by importing another alias map, you may first have to add the element or attribute names to the template. For more information, see Creating an alias map from an empty template.
7. To add an element description, place your cursor to the immediate left of the attribute-list start tag, between the attribute-list tag and the book icon, and choose Insert > Markup. If the element has no attribute-list, place your cursor to the immediate left of the element end tag.
To add an attribute description, place your cursor to the immediate left of the attribute's value-list start tag, between the value-list tag and the book icon, and choose Insert > Markup. If the attribute has no value-list, place your cursor to the immediate left of the attribute end tag.
8. Select description, and click Insert.
9. Place your cursor to the right of the description tag, and type a description. There are no restrictions on the type of characters you can use for the description.
10. When you are done adding descriptions, choose File > Save to save the alias map with its associated element and attribute descriptions.
