PTC Arbortext Layout Developer can be instructed to recognize XML content. Document properties available to PTC Arbortext Layout Developer documents have a direct effect on how PTC Arbortext Layout Developer processes XML. Templates can use XPath, or access and manipulate XML DOMs. Transformation of content using XSLT is supported in PTC Arbortext Layout Developer.

PTC Arbortext Layout Developer includes two XML parsers. Its default parser is based on the libXML library and should always be used. The 3B2–XML parser, which was a home-grown library, should not be used.
