Edit Window Shortcut Menu
Use the Edit window shortcut menu as a shortcut to functions that can also be accessed from the menu bar. If you are using the PTC Server connection or a repository adapter, the shortcut menu contains additional choices that enable you to perform content management system operations.

Description:
Undo
Reverses the last change you made to your document.
Redo or Repeat
Reverses Undo or repeats the last action.
Cut
Deletes the highlighted region of the document and holds it in a paste buffer.
Copy
Makes a copy of the highlighted region and holds it in a paste buffer.
Paste
Places copied or cut text from the paste buffer at the cursor location, if permitted.
Paste Special
Opens the Paste Special dialog box.
Not visible if there is no content available for paste.
Paste Excel
Window platforms only. Pastes spreadsheet data from Microsoft Excel into the document as a new table. The Excel Import Options dialog box appears for setting paste options.
Set sgmlselection to on (set command or preference) to paste the data in tagged format.
Not visible if there is no content available for paste.
Synchronize Views
Synchronizes the views in a split Arbortext Editor window to the current cursor location.
Only visible when working with a split view and when not automatically synchronizing.
Close View
Closes the view from which you invoked the shortcut menu. This choice is only available when the Arbortext Editor window has a split view.
Insert Markup
Brings up the Insert Markup dialog box allowing you to insert markup into your document.
Not visible when working with text documents.
Modify Attributes
Brings up the Modify Attributes dialog box allowing you to specify values for the attributes on the current element.
Not visible when working with text documents.
This item will be renamed if the menu is invoked for certain processing instructions:
For _pi tags — Modify Processing Instruction
For _kern tags — Modify Specified Horizontal Space
For _font and _cellfont tags — Modify Font
Quick Attribute
Brings up the Quick Attribute dialog box allowing you to modify an attribute for the current element.
Not visible when working with text documents.
Select Element Content
Selects and highlights the content of the surrounding tag pair at the cursor location (same as Edit > Select Element Content). Select again to include the tag pair.
Not visible when working with text documents.
Select Element
Selects and highlights the content and the surrounding tag pair at the cursor location.
Not visible when working with text documents.
Collapse Element Content or Expand Element Content
Collapse/expand the content between the tags at the cursor location.
Not visible when working with text documents.
Update Reference or Update Selected References
Updates the DITA References list for either the current element or the current selection in the document.
Only visible when you are working with a DITA document.
Find Key References
Opens the Keys and Key References dialog box displaying only the keys contained in the tag containing the cursor.
Only visible when you are editing a DITA map and the cursor is in a tag that defines a key.
Use Generated Link Text
For links in DITA documents, deletes the authored text in the selected link and inserts generated link text pulled from the title of the link target.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Key Reference Information
Only visible when you are editing a DITA document and the cursor is in a tag with a key reference attribute (keyref) defined.
Use Authored Link Text
For links in DITA documents, turns generated link text into authored link text enabling you to edit it as desired.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Modify Link Target
Displays the Modify Link Target dialog box when a link target within the current document is selected, or the cursor is to the right of a linking tag.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Delete Link Target
Deletes the selected link target or the linking tag to the left of the cursor.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Modify Link
Modify Link displays the Modify Link dialog box when a link within the current document is selected.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Go to Target
Moves the cursor to the target of the link.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Delete Link
Deletes the selected link.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Follow Link
Displays the link target of the selected link.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Link/Edit
Links to or edits the object specified in the menu item. The menu label changes, depending on the position of the cursor.
Only visible for valid link elements.
Edit Entity in New Window
Locks and opens the entity in a new window. If an entity is stored in a document management system, this will trigger the local checkout protocol.
Only visible when the cursor is inside an entity.
Edit Entity or Edit Inclusion
Locks the entity or XML inclusion for editing.
Only visible when the cursor is inside an entity or inclusion.
Select Entity or Select Inclusion
Selects the entire entity or XML inclusion.
Only visible when the cursor is inside an entity or inclusion.
Go Back
Returns the cursor to the position from which a link operation occurred.
Only visible when a link has been followed.
