Linking to an Intelligent Graphic in a Non-DITA Document
Follow these steps to create a link to an intelligent graphic in a non-DITA document:
1. Place the cursor in the location in your document where you want to insert the link or select the text that you want to be the source of the link.
2. Choose Insert > Link.
The Insert Link dialog box appears.
3. On the Current Document tab, select Graphics - Intelligent in the List drop-down list.
The targets in the Link Targets list change to just show the intelligent graphic targets in the document.
*
The graphic tag must have an ID assigned to appear in the Link Targets list.
Use the Insert > Link Target option to add the ID to the graphic if required.
4. Select the ID of the intelligent graphic to which you want to link in the Link Targets list.
For Arbortext IsoView, a thumbnail image of the graphic appears, along with the following options that enable you to define an action to initiate in the graphic when the link is activated:
Highlight
Animation
View
The Animation and View options are only available if the selected intelligent graphic contains animations or views.
For Creo View, a thumbnail image of the graphic appears, along with the following options that enable you to define an action to initiate in the graphic when the link is activated:
Highlight
View
The View option is only available if the selected intelligent graphic contains views, animations or sequences of steps. Note that for Creo View, you can create animation links or sequence links but cannot indicate that on the Insert Link dialog box. If you want to create an animation link or a sequence link for a Creo View graphic, select View.
5. If you just want to link to the intelligent graphic without initiating an action, click Insert to create the link.
6. If you do want to initiate an action, for example running an animation when the link is clicked, select one of the action options (Highlight or View) and click Select.
A dialog box specific to the type of link you want to create opens. For example, if you select the Highlight option and click Select, the Insert Highlight Link dialog box opens.
7. Use the dialog box to define the action associated with the link and click Insert.
Note that for Creo View, the Insert View Link dialog box also enables you to insert specific types of link:
Animation link
When you select a view in the View list that has an animation associated with it, an Animation check box appears in the dialog box. Check that box to insert a link to the animation in the view.
Sequence link (PVZ graphic)
When you select a view in the View list that has a sequence of steps associated with it, a Sequence check box appears in the dialog box. Check that box to insert a link to the sequence in the view.
You can select the step that should run as default when the link is clicked using the step selection spinner control for the graphic in the Insert View Link dialog box.
The dialog boxes close and the link is inserted into your document. If you double-click on the link, you can view the associated action in the target intelligent graphic.
