Publishing Rules
When you are using the Arbortext Publishing Engine for publishing, you can use publishing rules available from the Arbortext PE server as well as those created from Arbortext Editor specifically for use with the server. You can choose publishing rules from File > Publish > Using Rule, which presents a list of rules and rule sets choices from the Publish Using Rule dialog box.
You can see all available Arbortext PE server publishing rules from File > Publish > Using Rule. The Target column displays whether a rule or rule set is a local rule or a server rule. The server rules are those listed in the Publish Using Rule dialog box.
You can create a publishing rule to use with Arbortext Publishing Engine by choosing Tools > Administrative Tools > Publishing Rules. See Creating Publishing Rules for more information. The publishing rules you create are specifically for use with the server, though the rules will be saved in a local rule file in your user home directory. You will be prompted for a file name and a unique identifier for the publishing rule file.
However, if you disable Arbortext Publishing Engine or start using Arbortext Styler to publish locally, the server rules will no longer be listed in the Publish Using Rule dialog box. You will be offered only local publishing rules, and any rules you create in this state will also be local publishing rules. If you then enable Arbortext Publishing Engine for publishing again, you will be offered only server rules in the Publish Using Rule dialog box, and the local publishing rules will become unavailable.
