Inserting Markup Using Smart Insert
Smart Insert ensures that markup is inserted only where it is permitted in your document. It helps you maintain a document's structure without having to worry about precise cursor placement. If you select an element that cannot be inserted at the cursor position, Smart Insert finds a valid insertion point and inserts the element. Your document remains a complete and valid XML document.
Smart Insert must be configured in the document type's .dcf file
To enable Smart Insert:
1. At the Arbortext Editor command line, type set smartinsert=on.
2. Choose Insert > Markup.
When Smart Insert is enabled, the following behavior occurs:
The list contains all of the elements in the selected Category.
The element you choose is inserted at the cursor location. If the element would be out of context at the cursor location, Arbortext Editor inserts it at the nearest location in which it is in context
The Direction buttons allow you to choose in which direction Arbortext Editor searches in the document to insert the element.
