Creating a Graphics Application Notation
Notations are used to associate a graphics application with a specific type of graphic file. A notation is required for every graphic entity referenced in a document.
To create a notation:
1. Choose > . The
Notations dialog box opens.
2. Click on the
New button to open the
New notation dialog box.
Provide the following information:
◦ Name — provide a name for the new notation (usually the file extension of the graphic). These names appear as selections in the
Graphic Entities dialog box.
◦ Public ID — provide a public identifier for the new notation. Use a public ID to identify a graphic application located in an area common to a variety of systems, and
Arbortext Editor will attempt to match this path by searching all catalog files in the current
catalog path list.
If both a system ID and a public ID are provided, the system ID will be ignored.
3. Click OK to close the New notation dialog box.
The new notation is available when you close the Notations dialog box.
