Compare Preferences
The Compare category in the Preferences dialog box sets the following document comparison options:
Show Insert with Underline — Marks insertions with underlines.
Insert Color — Specifies the display color for insertions. Select a background color from the Color palette to show differences in the documents.
Show Delete with Strikethrough — Marks deletions with a strikethrough effect.
Delete Color — Specifies the display color for deletions. Select a background color from the Color palette to show differences in the documents.
Show Attribute Changes — Displays the results of comparing tag attributes.
Attribute Change Color — Specifies the display color for attribute changes. Select a background color from the Color palette to show differences in the documents.
Compare Entities — Determines whether entities are expanded and the content is evaluated. If you select Compare Entities, text and file entities are expanded and the differences in the expanded content are included in the Compare window. If the Compare document is subsequently saved, expanded entity content is saved as flattened text. That is, the entity content is included in the saved file. If this option isn't selected, the entity references are compared (not the entity content) and only the entity references are saved in the document.
Compare XML Inclusions — Determines whether files included using inclusions are expanded and the content is evaluated. If you select Compare XML Inclusions, included files are expanded and the differences in the expanded content are included in the Compare window. If the Compare document is subsequently saved, expanded content is saved as flattened text. That is, the included content becomes part of the saved file. If Compare XML Inclusions isn't selected, the XML inclusion references are compared (not the included content) and only the inclusion references are saved in the document.
Compare preference color settings override FOSI settings in the resulting document.
If you are viewing tables graphically in the results document, you may not see some table markup changes. If you want to view your table tag attribute changes, you can set View > Tables > Table Markup to see the attribute changes in table markup view.
