Revising an Object
The PTC Server connection enables you to create a new revision of a PTC Server object and optionally any dependent objects. The revise feature has the following restrictions:
You must have authorization on the PTC Server to revise an object.
You can only revise the latest revision and iteration of an object.
For example, if you are viewing version C.2 of an object in Arbortext Editor and version C.3 is the latest version of the object on the PTC Server, you can only revise version C.3 to a new version D.1. You would need to update the version displayed in Arbortext Editor to perform the revise operation.
You cannot revise a graphic object.
You cannot revise an object that is checked out.
You cannot revise an object stored in Windchill ProjectLink.
Follow these steps to revise an object stored in a PTC Server:
1. Highlight the object you want to revise in the Browser hierarchy.
2. In the Browser, choose Object > Revise or click the Revise button.
The Revise dialog box opens asking you to confirm the revise operation.
3. If the object has dependent objects and you want to revise them as well, select the Create a new revision for all the dependents check box in the Revise dialog box.
4. Select Yes to close the dialog box and execute the revise operation.
A new revision of the object and any selected dependent objects is created on the PTC Server.
If you are currently viewing an object that is not checked out in Arbortext Editor, you can also choose Object > Revise Object there to revise that object. If you are viewing multiple objects in Arbortext Editor, you can right-click inside of one of those objects and use the Edit view or Document Map shortcut menu to revise just that object.
