Specifying the DITA Resolved Documents for Editing and Styling
By default, Arbortext Editor automatically generates temporary document types to use for the resolved documents for editing and styling.
If you want to develop a custom document type for the resolved documents, you can use the .dcf file to specify the document type for either the resolved document for editing or the resolved document for styling. Note that you must change the .dcf file for your DITA Map or specialization of DITA Map, not for the customized resolved document.
To specify a DITA resolved document type:
1. Open Arbortext Architect.
2. Choose File > Open.
3. Locate the directory in which the DITA map document type is saved, and click Select.
4. Once the document type is loaded, choose Edit > DCF. If the document type has a .dcf file, it displays in the Arbortext ArchitectDCF Editor window. If there is no .dcf file associated with this document type, Arbortext Architect automatically creates one.
5. Locate the Options element in the DCF Editor. If the file doesn't include an Options element, add one.
*
Open the Document Type Viewer (Tools > Document Type Viewer) to view the element hierarchy for the .dcf file. This will help you determine the valid location for the Options element.
6. Inside of the Options element, locate the DitaOptions element. If the file doesn't include a DitaOptions element, add one.
7. Place your cursor to the right of the DitaOptions element, and choose Edit > Modify Attributes or click on the Modify Attributes toolbar button to open the Modify Attributes dialog box.
*
You must have the Force Required Attributes EntryEdit preference selected for this dialog box to open automatically.
8. Change the resolved document type(s).
For the resolved document for editing, enter the following information for the new document type in the RDEdit field:
For document types based on a DTD:
Name of the top tag
PUBLIC keyword
Public identifier
System identifier
For example, following is an RDEdit entry for the DITA resolved document for editing:
resolvedmap PUBLIC "-//Arbortext//DTD RDEdit//EN" "rdedit.dtd"
For document types based on a schema:
Name of the top tag
URI keyword
Public identifier
System identifier
For example:
resolvedmap URI "urn.ptc.names.arbortext.dita.xsd:techinfo-rdedit.xsd" "techinfo-rdedit.xsd"
For the resolved document for styling, enter the same information for the new document type in the RDStyle field.
9. Click OK.
10. Choose File > Save to save the changes you have made to the .dcf file.
