Creating a New Import Project
Import MapTemplate developers use Import Projects to manage MapTemplate creation and testing. An Import Project file contains one or more transformations (sets of conversion mappings). Each transformation specifies a source document being imported, the MapTemplate controlling the transformation, and the target XML file created.

When upgrading from previous versions of Arbortext Import, you must also perform the following initialization to update Arbortext Import.
You must perform a first-time initialization of Arbortext Import before creating or working on an Import Project. Perform this initialization in Arbortext Editor by choosing File > Import > Import Workbench Configuration, setting appropriate values for your site, and clicking on Update on the Import Workbench Configuration dialog box. When these values are properly set, the Open Import Project and New Import Project menu selections will be available when choosing File > Import.
Consider setting APTCUSTOM to a location with read/write capabilities outside of the Arbortext Editor installation directory and placing your project directory there. (Note that completed MapTemplates will be moved to your Arbortext Publishing Engine server when ready for deployment.)
For more information on project directories and related files, refer to Import Configuration Reference.
Use the following steps to create a new Import Project.
1. With Arbortext Editor running, choose File > Import > New Import Project.
2. Select or create a location for the new project. The selected directory must not contain an existing project.
3. Click OK. The required Project Directory structure is created, an empty project file is created, and the Import Workbench opens.
