Configuring for Importing
Import Process Overview
To activate and configure Arbortext Import/Export for MapTemplate development and deployment, perform the following steps:
1. Ensure that Arbortext Import/Export has been activated on client workstations and the Arbortext Publishing Engine server following the instructions in the Installation Guide for Arbortext Editor, Arbortext Styler, and Arbortext Architect and the Installation Guide for Arbortext Publishing Engine.

After installing a 7.0 M030 or later release of Arbortext Editor, set the featureImportExport and featureImportMapping set options to on to enable Arbortext Import/Export features.
2. When upgrading from previous versions of Arbortext Import, you must perform a re-initialization of Arbortext Import before creating or working on an Import Project. Perform this initialization in Arbortext Editor by choosing File > Import > Import Workbench Configuration, setting appropriate values for your site, and clicking on Update on the Import Workbench Configuration dialog box.
3. Create a new Import Project. Refer to Creating a New Import Project.
4. Create Import MapTemplates using the Import Workbench. Detailed instructions on creating MapTemplates are available in the Import Workbench User Guide and Reference Manual and Import Workbench Step-By-Step Tutorial available from the Import Workbench Help menu and in the Arbortext Help Center.
5. Deploy completed Import MapTemplates for use from client workstations by copying the maps to the Arbortext Publishing Engine server. Refer to Deploying MapTemplate Files
6. Configure client workstations so users at your site can access the Import MapTemplates for importing documents to XML.
Arbortext Import/Export imports documents in the following formats:
Word 2007 and 2010 .docx
Word 2003 (version 11)
Word XP, Word 2002 (version 10)
WordML
RTF (versions 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8, although specific features of any version may not be mappable or importable)
MIF (FrameMaker 6.0 through 8.0)
HTML (version 4.0.1 and earlier)
PDF (version 1.6)
