About This Guide
This document is the definitive reference manual for information about the macros and processing instructions (PI) employed within PTC Arbortext Layout Developer (PTC ALD). It contains all the information you need to use macros and PIs to create, manage, and publish your documents and configure your system setup.
Prerequisite Knowledge
The following knowledge is prerequisite to the content in this document:
Working familiarity with the basic components and processes that make up PTC Arbortext Layout Developer (PTC ALD) and the experience necessary to use this knowledge to program the application to correspond with individual business requirements. If this is not the case, please refer to the document User’s Guide, which contains an overview of the product. This reference is a useful starting point to learn your way around PTC ALD.
Basic understanding of concepts such as XML/SGML, scripting and document publication.
Organization of This Guide
This guide is organized as follows:
Macros and PIs are detailed separately and each of the sections contains subsections relating to particular areas of PTC Arbortext Layout Developer, parts of a document or objects that make up a document.
The index at the book of the manual also includes lists of tasks that you may need to carry out and links to the macro(s) or PI(s) that you will need.
