Workflow 2: Incorporating Changes to Parts Associated with Change Objects Using Set Configuration Specification
Let’s consider that a design engineer made few modifications to certain parts that are associated with a change task or change notice in eBOM. As a manufacturing engineer, you want to incorporate or propagate those changes to manufacturing BOM. This workflow is a sample of the basic steps to incorporate the above-mentioned changes:
1. Select the root part of an assembly form the folder browser page or search results page.
2. Right-click the selected part and select Open > Open in BOM Transformer. The structure opens in BOM Transformer.
3. Click Set Configuration Specification. The Set Configuration Specification dialog box opens. Specify the change task or change notice number in the Change Number field.
4. By specifying the change number, you are setting the context for reconciliation. In other words, you are doing the groundwork for using the Detect Discrepancies and Review and Resolve Discrepancies action. Consider the following scenario: The part structure you have opened contains 500 parts. Only 10 parts in the structure are associated with the specified change number. Specifying the change number helps to ensure that discrepancies are detected for only those 10 parts that are associated with the change number.
5. Select the Apply Change Notice/Task Filter check box. By selecting this checkbox, you make sure that only the parts that are associated with the specified change task or change notice number in step 4 appear in the tree structure.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Detect Discrepancies. The changed parts in eBOM are highlighted and the Review and Resolve Discrepancies dialog box opens. The Review and Resolve Discrepancies dialog box lists all the discrepancies for the highlighted parts.
8. Optionally, use the or actions in the Review and Resolve Discrepancies dialog box toolbar to move to the next or previous discrepant part in the upstream tree structure.
9. Select the check boxes for the discrepancies that you want to resolve.
10. Click Propagate changes to downstream. The selected discrepancies are resolved.
