Part Configuration Information Page
A part configuration is the basic building block used to track the as-maintained bill of material of traceable products over their in-service lifetime. A part configuration is essentially a baseline containing all the part versions in an assembly part structure used to assemble a part instance.
The part configuration information page is a collection point for information related to the part configuration. The information page of a part configuration is accessed by clicking the information icon displayed in a folder or search results table.
From the information page, you can perform actions on a part configuration, as well as view the object attributes and any related information.
For an overview of information page functionality, see About Information Pages and Customizing Information Page Tabs.
Actions
Information pages contain a list of applicable actions in a menu in the upper left corner of the page. See Common Actions for a list of common actions available in Windchill. The availability of these actions depends on the status of the part configuration, as well as your access to it. For more information about status indicators, see Object Status.
The New Part Instance action is unique for a part configuration. Use this action to create a new part instance from a part configuration. For more information, see Creating a New Part Instance.
Tabs
The following tabs are available on the part configuration information page. You can customize the tabs that appear to display information that is most useful to you. For more information, see Customizing Information Page Tabs.

Details
The Details tab contains attribute information about the part configuration.
See Object Attributes for a list of common attributes available in Windchill.
There are two attributes that are unique to a part configuration:
Base Part – The part for which the configuration is created.
Population Type – This attribute has a value of either Basic or Full. If the value is Basic, the system has populated the part configuration with only the branches of the base part structure needed to include all traceable descendant parts. If the value is Full, versions for all parts in the part structure (up to, but not including descendent traceable parts) are included in the part configuration.
For more information, see Creating a New Part Configuration.
Structure
The Structure tab displays the part structure for the part configuration. A toolbar of common actions appears at the top of the structure tab. Beneath the toolbar, the left pane contains the expandable part configuration structure, the right pane shows attribute information about a part selected on the left. For more information, see Part Configuration Structure Tab.
Part Instances
The Part Instances tab contains a table listing all part instances created from the part configuration.
