Update for SolidWorks
If CAD documents are iterated on the Windchill server, then your Workspace copies are marked as out-of-date. You can use the Update command to update your Workspace, and your SOLIDWORKS session, with the latest iterations of those objects available on your Windchill server. You can also use the Update command after making changes to your Workspace configuration specification. Update aligns the version of objects in your active Workspace and CAD session in accordance with the Workspace configuration specification.
For example, a Workspace configuration specification is Latest, and A.2 version of an object is added to your Workspace. In the meantime, a different user has checked out this object and checked in an A.3 (latest) version to the Workspace. Performing an Update will replace the A.2 version in the Workspace and SOLIDWORKS sessions with the new A.3 version from the Windchill server. Use Preference Management to set the default behavior of this command.
To update an object in SOLIDWORKS, click PTC Windchill > Update Active Model or PTC Windchill > Update All Models. In Windchill Workgroup Manager client, select the object, and then click File > Update.

When replacing out-of-date components in an assembly that is already open in session, you no longer have to close and reopen the assembly to complete the Update action. Beginning at Windchill 11.0 F000, assembly components in the Local Workspace can be replaced with updated ones while the assembly is open and in work.
An Update of a parent assembly containing SOLIDWORKS Toolbox parts added by another user will not load the Toolbox parts following Update; these parts appear greyed out in the feature tree.

If not already added, it is recommended to make sure the Out Of Date and Out Of Date With Workspace Configuration columns are displayed in the Workspace table views. This means that during each Workspace refresh, Windchill checks the Workspace for objects that are out-of-date with respect to the Workspace configuration specification. A status icon is displayed against objects in the Workspace when an object is out-of date.
