To create an organization through the Participant Administration utility, you must have write permission to the directory server in which you want the organization participant entry to reside. To allow members of an organization to create products and libraries or to create programs and projects, an administrator must create a site administrator and an organization context for an organization participant. Creating an organization context can be done from Organizations link and then click New Organization. Click the new organization icon at the top of the Organizations table. > . From that tab, click the When creating an organization context, you can either use an existing organization participant that is not associated with a context or create a new organization participant. |
Field | Description | ||
Name | Specifies the name of the organization. The name you enter must be unique within scope of the directory server you select. Organization name cannot contain the following characters: #, /, >, \, and <. The organization name identifies the participants who are members of the organization. Participants whose directory entries conform to both of the following requirements automatically become members of the organization: • Participants with directory entries in the directory servers that are available in Windchill. Directory services are established by setting up JNDI adapter entries through the Info*Engine Property Administrator and adding the adapter entries to the wt.federation.org.directoryServices property value. For additional information, see the LDAP installation settings information. • Participants belonging to the organization have the organization name specified in the Name field as their organization attribute in their directory entries. The default user organization attribute is "o". | ||
Organization ID | Specifies the globally unique organization identifier under which the organization is registered. If the organization is not registered, do not enter a value in this field. Both an organization identifier type and an organization identifier must be specified or both fields must be blank for the organization to be created successfully. Select the organization identifier type from the drop-down list. By default, the drop-down list contains CAGE Code, DUNS Number, and ISO 6523. If the drop-down list does not contain the type required for your company organization, modify the list by editing the wt.org.organizationTypes property that is located in the wt.properties file. You can use the System Configurator to edit the property. Enter a value in the text field to specify the organization identifier. Windchill combines the organization type and ID and stores the resulting value in the organizationIdentifier attribute of the organization directory entry.

Conferencing ID | Specifies the identifier that organization members use to gain access to the service identified in the Conferencing URL field. | ||
Domain | Specifies the Windchill domain to which the organization is associated. A Windchill domain is an administrative area that defines a set of administrative policies, such as access control, indexing, and notification. Objects associated with a domain are subject to its policies. Click Find to open a window and find the domain you want to select. If you do not enter a domain in this field, Windchill determines which domain to set according to the domain algorithm that is in place. Internet Domain | If the organization has a registered internet domain name, enter this name in the Internet Domain field. The internet domain name identifies the web address of the organization Internet domain names can consist of alphanumeric characters and the hyphen (-) symbol. Do not include other characters such as the underscore (_). | ||
Business Classification | To help group organizations, your company can establish a set of business classifications that can then be used in this field. For example, a company could classify organizations by division or location. If your company does not have a set of business classifications, you can leave this field blank. |
