Inserting a Document into the Document Structure
To insert a document into a document structure, first select a document in the structure tree. Documents you insert into the structure are added as children to the selected document.
You can insert documents using actions available from the Structure tab actions toolbar, the structure tree right-click actions menu, and from the Uses table toolbar.
Insert Existing
Insert an existing Windchill document into the structure. In the window that opens, select a document type from the Search On drop-down menu and then enter search criteria into the Name or Number field.
*
Use an asterisk (*) as a wildcard character to increase the number objects that match the entered text. For more information, see Search Wildcards.
Select a document from the search results and click OK.
Insert New > Insert New Document
Opens the New Document window, from which you can create a new Windchill document. For more information, see Creating a Document.
Insert New > Insert New Multiple Documents
Opens the New Multiple Documents window, from which you can create several new Windchill documents at once. For more information, see Creating Multiple Documents.
Paste
Insert existing Windchill documents using the clipboard. You can use this method to quickly insert multiple documents at once.
Copy documents in the structure or elsewhere in Windchill (for example, from the Folder Contents table). Select the parent document in the structure tree and click the paste icon on the structure actions toolbar or select Paste from the right-click actions menu.
Once inserted, you can later reorder the document structure.
To remove a document, select the document in the structure tree and click the remove document icon . The document is removed from the structure but is not deleted from Windchill.
