Pre-Upgrade Tasks
If you are updating an existing pre-11.1 F000 Windchill installation to this release, carry out the tasks listed below before installing Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module:
Check in S1000D Objects
During an upgrade of an existing release of Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module, migrators reassign lifecycles to existing objects. This ensures that changes made to lifecycles in interim releases are passed to the existing objects. The migrators can only work on checked in objects - PTC recommends that existing S1000D objects of these types are checked in before performing an upgrade:
Data module (DM)
DM content holder
Information Control Number (ICN)
ICN content holder
Publication module content holder

If the check in is not possible, the upgrade log provides information about those objects which have not been automatically updated. Check these logs so that the objects can be manually updated later.
Save DDN / DML OIR Customizations for Product
If you have implemented customizations to Object Initialization Rules (OIR) for Data Dispatch Note (DDN) and Data Module List (DML) objects at product level, save the customized files to a separate location before installing Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module. You can then reapply the customizations once installation is complete.
Your customizations will be lost during upgrade if you do not carry out this step.
