Creating Control Characteristics Using Creo View
*
When creating a control characteristic using Creo View the part or assembly must be opened from a Windchill MPMLink explorer.
To create a control characteristic using Creo View:
1. In the Manufacturing Product Structure explorer, select the part or assembly that you want to create a control characteristic for. The selected part or structure must have model annotations in Creo View.
2. Using Creo View select an annotation, either in the viewer or in the Annotations tab.
*
Only annotations that are designated in Creo View can become control characteristics in Windchill MPMLink.
3. Using the context menu, select New Control Characteristic.
The New Control Characteristic window appears.
4. If more than one type of control characteristic has been defined in the system, select a control characteristic type from the Type drop-down list and click Next.
5. Fill in the required fields (indicated by an asterisk) and any other desired fields. Before you can save the information on this window, you must fill in all required fields.
6. Click OK.
The new control characteristic is created and associated with the selected part or assembly. Additionally, a control characteristic indicator appears next to the part in the Annotations tab.
*
If you want to create a control characteristic on a part for which you do not have modify rights (for example, a part with an upstream view), and that part has a related process plan, open that part using the Open inCreo View action on the Related tab of the Process Plan Explorer. The newly created control characteristic, while owned by the part, is displayed on the Control Characteristics tab of the process plan.
