Export a Project
The import and export functionality is intended to assist in the sharing of information between systems. Only the project or program manager can perform an import, but all members can export.
*
You cannot import an archived project across major Windchill releases. Only project managers can import data.
Some web browsers do not support importing and exporting more than 2 GB of data. Consult your browser help documentation to verify before importing or exporting large files.
For more information, see Import and Export Projects.
Exporting a project causes the top level folders to be compressed into a downloadable ZIP file. You can use this to make objects saved in the project or program available on another system. You can also export the milestones, deliverables, activities, plan, team, and team member names associated with that project or program. If the project contains a large number of objects, the operation might be time-consuming.
*
You cannot export discussion topics, action items, or meeting information.
If your project includes multiple plans, only the default plan is included in the Export to File action.
Use the following procedure to export a project or program:
1. Navigate to the project or program information page and select Actions > Export to File.
2. In the export to file window, enter the following information:
Export File Name—A name for the ZIP file that will be created in the field.
Select the information which you want exported to file.
Save plan dates—Select this option if you want the dates from your plan saved in the exported information.
3. Click OK. The Save As window opens.
4. Browse to the location where you would like to save the exported file and click Save.
A ZIP file containing the project files is downloaded to the specified location on your system.
