As of v.2.1.0, the eMessage Connector supports Oracle JDK 11 and Amazon Corretto 11 (OpenJDK). Java 8 is moving to End of Life in December 2020, and Java 11 has many security enhancements that improve security for your ThingWorx installations. PTC strongly recommends that you upgrade to either of the Java 11 JDKs.
Since Java 8 is still supported, you can use the JDK v.1.8.0_u162 or later if you want 256-big encryption. These later versions provide 256-bit encryption instead of 128-bit. While you can get 256-bit encryption with 1.8.0_u141 and later, extra steps are required to do so.

On Windows machines, make sure that you choose a location that results in a short path. If the path is too long, the Connector does not start. It returns an error that the input is too long and the command syntax incorrect. For example, extract the Connector archive to C:\eMessageConnector.
