Upgrading ThingWorx Navigate
Before you begin
Before you upgrade to the latest version of ThingWorx Navigate 1.8, check that your server is ready and running and that you meet the prerequisites. To do so, complete the following steps:
1. Make sure that your current ThingWorx Navigate is up and running. We also recommend that you take note of your tailoring settings, and check if you see changes after you complete the upgrade.
2. Confirm that the connection between Windchill and ThingWorx Navigate works.
3. Confirm that you meet the prerequisites. For more information, see Prerequisites.
If you have customized your ThingWorx Navigate using the out-of-the-box ThingWorx Navigate services, we recommend that you verify of any of these services have been modified in the new version of ThingWorx Navigate. For more information, see Compare Versions of ThingWorx Navigate.
Identify the supported upgrade paths
When upgrading your ThingWorx Navigate server, we recommend upgrading to the latest available release. PTC only supports upgrade to the latest available release when upgrading a major or minor version of your ThingWorx Navigate server.

Download the files for ThingWorx Navigate upgrade
You need to import the extensions and other related files specific to the supported upgrade path identified in the above section. These files are all found in ThingWorx-Navigate-Upgrade-<version>-bundle.zip.
1. From the PTC Software Download page, select PTC SMART CONNECTED APPLICATIONS.
2. Expand Release APPs, ThingWorx Navigate 1.8, and Most Recent Datecode.
3. Download ThingWorx-Navigate-Upgrade-<version>-bundle.zip, and extract it.
Identify the upgrade type
After identifying the supported upgrade path and downloading files for the upgrade, you need to identify the upgrade type—in-place, migration, or maintenance release upgrade. Refer to the below table to verify the type of upgrade.
