Maintenance Release Upgrade
Follow the steps in this topic to upgrade to a maintenance release of ThingWorx Navigate (for example, 1.7.0 to 1.7.1, 1.7.1 to 1.7.2, 1.7.0 to 1.7.2).
1. Backup custom tasks: If you have custom tasks that were built by modifying
ThingWorx Navigate out-of-the-box extensions, make backups, so you can redeploy them after the upgrade. This prevents overwriting of these custom tasks during the upgrade process. For more information, see
ThingWorx Extension Development Guide.
2. Stop the Integration Runtime of your current version of ThingWorx Navigate.
3. On your
Windchill version, install the enablement patch compatible with the
ThingWorx Navigate maintenance release version you want to upgrade to. For more information, see “Install PTC
Windchill Patches” in section
PTC Windchill Extension.
4. Update
ThingWorx. Follow the upgrade instructions in the section “Maintenance Release/Service Pack Upgrade Process” in the
Upgrading to ThingWorx 8.2 guide.
5. Define allowable file download types in the
<installation directory>\ThingworxPlatform\platform-settings.json file. Refer to
Set File Download Types for details.
◦ ptc-windchill-extension-<version>.zip
◦ ptc-windchill-utilities-extension-<version>.zip
◦ ptc-navigate-framework-extension-<version>.zip
◦ ThingWorx-Navigate-View-PLM-App-Extension-Bundle-<version>.zip
7. In ThingWorx Composer, import these extensions. See the Note below describing files not to import. You can skip importing extensions you already installed and ignore warning messages that may appear. The following occurs after installing these extensions:
◦ Existing extensions: ThingWorx-Navigate-View-PLM-App-Extension-Bundle, ptc-navigate-framework-extension, and ptc-windchill-extension are overwritten.
◦ Configuration settings and tailoring from the previous version of ThingWorx Navigate are preserved in the upgrade process.
|
• You do not need to import ThingWorx-Navigate-Example-<version>.xml because it is the same as in ThingWorx Navigate version you upgraded from. If you import it, it overwrites the connector configurations and the tailoring, and you will need to configure the integration connector again.
• You do not need to import the file ptc-sample-mashup-<version>.xml.

8. Clear Tomcat cache and restart Apache Tomcat for ThingWorx Navigate.
10. Redeploy your custom tasks: If you have custom tasks built by modifying ThingWorx Navigate out-of-the-box extensions, reimport those custom tasks you backed up earlier.
11. If you updated from
ThingWorx 8.2.4 to
ThingWorx 8.2.8 and your system is configured with
Windchill Authentication, a few extra configuration steps are required. Follow the steps in the section “Add Servlet Filters to Tomcat Configuration” in the topic
Configure ThingWorx Navigate with Windchill Authentication
You have successfully upgraded ThingWorx Navigate. Time to get started using the new version.
