Adding a New Principal and ACL Entry
When new users are added to an existing group, they are granted the same permissions as the rest of the group, as long as the group is listed in the ACL system. If you implemented ACLs by defining specific users, you may find you need to add a new principal to the ACLs for each new user. Or perhaps you need to define new groups to reflect a changing business organization, and therefore need to add a new principal to reflect the new group.
Adding a new principal and ACL entry involves defining a new principal and at least one permission.
To add a principal using the Integrity Lifecycle Manager administration client:
1. Open the Integrity Lifecycle Manager administration client, and select the ACL you want to add a principal to.
2. To add a principal (whether a user or group), highlight the target ACL, and select > . The Select Principal dialog box displays.
3. From the Principal list, choose the principal you want to add, and click OK. The Change Permissions dialog box allows you to set the permissions for the selected principal.
4. In the Permissions area, change the condition of the available permissions by clicking the indicator boxes and toggling through the condition indicators until the box displays the required condition.
You can also click Allow All to allow all permissions, Deny All to deny all permissions, or Clear All to clear all permissions.
|
Once you add a principal, you can edit the associated permissions at any time by selecting the required option from the ACL menu or by right clicking and choosing the required option from the shortcut menu. Menu options include Allow Permission, Deny Permission, and Clear Permission.
