Adding Principals in the GUI
When users are added to an existing group, they are granted the same permissions as the rest of the group. This is applicable only if the group is listed in the ACLs. If you implemented ACLs by defining specific users, you can add principals to the ACLs for each new user. If you defined new groups to reflect a changing business organization, you can add principals to reflect the new group.
Adding a new principal to the ACL involves defining a new principal and at least one permission.
To add a principal using the Integrity Lifecycle Manager client GUI:
1. Select the project, subproject, or member for which you want to view ACLs.
2. Select one of the following:
Project > Views > View Permissions
Member > Views > View Permissions
The View Permissions window opens.
3. Select the project, subproject, or member in the ACL tree that contains the ACL for which you want to add the principal.
*
The projects, subprojects, or members containing explicitly defined ACLs are indicated by the or icons in the ACL tree.
4. Select ACL > Add Principal.
Alternatively, right-click the ACL and select Add Principal.
You can also add a principal to the ACL by selecting an existing principal or multiple principals for the same ACL in the permissions pane. After selecting the existing principals, select Permission > Add Principal. Alternatively, right-click an existing principal or multiple principals in the permissions pane and select Add Principal.
The Select Principal window opens.
*
The Add Principal action is also available on the shortcut menu if you select a principal and the permissions for the same ACL. You can also use Permission > Add Principal for the same operation.
5. In the principal list, select a principal that you want to add.
You can also filter the list of principals.
6. Click OK.
The Change Permissions window opens.
7. In the Permissions list, change the condition of the available permissions by clicking the indicator boxes. You can toggle the condition indicators until the indicator box displays the required condition.
The following condition indicators apply:
A green plus (+) sign indicates that the permission is allowed.
A red minus (-) sign indicates that the permission is denied.
A blank box indicates that the permission is cleared.
You can also click Allow All to allow all permissions, Deny All to deny all permissions, or Reset to clear all permissions.
8. Click OK.
The permissions pane displays the new principal for the selected ACL.
