Gravity Loads
Use Home > Gravity in Structure or FEM mode Structure to create an accelerational load on your entire model. See Guidelines for Gravity Loads for more information.
When you define a gravity load, you specify to which load set it belongs. Note that you can have only one gravity load per load set.
When you click Home > Gravity, the Gravity Load dialog box opens with the following items:
• Name—The name of the load. The color swatch adjacent to Name allows you to change the color of the icon, the distribution, and the text displayed for the load.
• Member of Set—The name of the load set. You can select an existing load set from the drop-down list, or create a new set by clicking New to display the Load Set Definition dialog box.
• Properties—Select the coordinate system that the acceleration vector will reference. You must select a Cartesian coordinate system. The default is the current coordinate system. You can select any UCS or the WCS.
 
* If you are working on a 2D model, Creo Simulate uses the coordinate system you specified during the definition of the 2D model as the WCS.
• Acceleration—Specify the magnitude and direction of the gravitational acceleration. Select the units of gravitational acceleration. Note that units are of the type length/time2.
• Preview—Adds an arrow to your model showing the direction of the gravity load.
After you complete the dialog box, Creo Simulate places a gravity load icon at the origin of the WCS, with a vector pointing in the direction of the load and the letter G at the endpoint of the vector. The gravity load acts at the center of gravity of the part or assembly. Gravity loads that are created for a part are not applicable at the assembly level.
