About Shadow Surfaces
A shadow surface is a type of parting surface that you can create automatically using a surface from the reference model. Use the tool to create a parting surface that is draped on top of the reference part geometry. Before creating a shadow surface, you must completely draft and shrink the reference model, as well as determine the pull direction.
Keep in mind the following points when creating a shadow surface:
You must unblank the workpiece or die block.
You cannot control the direction of the extension.
You cannot exclude failed segments.
