During the dimension selection process if you select an assembly (including the top-level assembly), candidate assembly dimensions are displayed for selection. If you select an assembly dimension, a virtual component is added to the dimension loop. A virtual component holds the assembly dimensions and annotations used to represent components such as fixtures, spacers, and so on, that are not physically modeled in the CAD model.
