ASME Y14.5-2009 Rule Set
The GD&T Advisor ASME Y14.5-2009 rule set is based on the following standards:
ASME Y14.5-2009 (Dimensioning and Tolerancing) — Establishes uniform practices for stating and interpreting dimensioning, tolerancing, and related requirements for use on engineering drawings and related documents.
ASME Y14.41-2012 (Digital Product Definition Data Practices) — Establishes the requirements and reference documents applicable to the preparation and revision of digital product definition data (referred to as data sets) and defines exceptions and additional requirements to existing ASME standards for using product definition digital data sets or drawings in digital format.
ASME Y14.8-2009 (Castings, Forgings, and Molded Parts) — Covers definitions of terms and features unique to casting and forging technologies with recommendations for their uniform description and inclusion on engineering drawings and related documents.
ASME Y14.41-2012 specifies the requirements for models and the exceptions or additional requirements for views on technical drawings. GD&T Advisor creates annotations according to the model requirements. Draft angles for castings, forgings, and molded parts are indicated as specified in ASME Y14.8-2009.
These standards have requirements that the design model include notes indicating the applicable standards. See Standard Reference Notes for more information.
