To Set a Dimension as a Basic Dimension

Detailed Drawings > Annotating the Drawing > Dimensioning the Model > Formatting Dimension Display > Working with Basic Dimensions > To Set a Dimension as a Basic Dimension

1. Select the dimension to change. The Dimension ribbon tab opens.

2. Click Tolerance button, and select Basic option.

3. Click in the graphics area to complete the task.

If you set the dimension type to Basic, then by default, only the numerical part of the dimension value and it's symbol are enclosed in a rectangular box. Any additional text in the dimension value is not included in the box.
