About Placing Surface Finish and Custom Symbols on Chamfer Dimensions
You can place surface finish and custom drawing symbols on the extension lines of displayed chamfer dimensions for a 45 x D Chamfer. These symbols are placed normal to the chamfer dimension extension lines. You can also modify surface finish symbols placed on extension lines in the same manner as you modify surface symbols placed on dimension witness lines. When you drag chamfer dimensions from one location to another, the attached surface finish and custom drawing symbols also move with them.

 You can only place a custom drawing symbol that has Normal to Entity as one of its allowed placement types on the extension line of a chamfer dimension. |
The following figure shows a surface finish symbol placed on a chamfer dimension extension line:
When you drag the chamfer dimension through the midpoint of the chamfer edge, the surface finish symbol appears as shown in the following figure:
After you finish dragging the chamfer dimension, the surface finish symbol moves with the chamfer dimension as shown in the following figure:
