About Customizing Assembly Retrieval
When you retrieve a large assembly, you can define a temporary representation on the fly and retrieve only specified components in the assembly. Retrieving only the components needed saves time and uses less memory. The temporary representation can be saved. Even when you do not save it, all changes are saved with the assembly.
Select the assembly in the File Open dialog box and click Open Subset. Use the Retrieval Customization dialog box to select the assembly components to retrieve. You can select components from the tree, from the graphics window, or using the filters and buttons.
You can retrieve assembly components using one of two methods:
• Basic View (default)—Use Include or Exclude to define a simple assembly subset for retrieval.
• Advanced View—Retrieves all components in the assembly. You determine the representation of the component to retrieve, or substitute the component with an envelope, Family Table member, or interchange component.
